I make no bones about my campaign to Democratize the world fashion stage and supports efforts that will expose TALENT from around the world to opportunities! Hence www.brooklynfashionfilmfestival.com This NYCED NY offer will allows young graduates such as students from The Caribbean Academy of Fashion & Design at UTT in my native Trinidad unprecedented access to opportunities in NY fashion industry! However when smaller governments invest in the education (university education is free n TT) efforts like this often result in a brain drain! So yes I am a tad bit concerned about what this will mean for local industries and the investment of their governments! On the other hand, that experience & exposure can directly benefit smaller fashion sectors… So how are these companies going to give back to the larger world stage of fashion development!

excerpt;- New York, September 27, 2011—New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Parsons The New School for Design today launched Fashion Draft NYC, one of six initiatives recently announced by the City to support the long-term growth of the City’s $55 billion fashion industry. Fashion Draft NYC will bring a select group of top business-minded students from around the world to New York City to network and interview with fashion executives, with a chance to earn full-time, management-track positions within one of the participating New York-based companies. Participating companies include Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Gilt, and LF USA, with additional companies still expected to join in the coming weeks and months. Fashion Draft NYC will take place in New York City from February 16-18, 2012, and is the second of the City’s fashion initiatives, including Fashion Campus NYC, in which NYCEDC has also partnered with Parsons.
