ICons Opportunities and Irony-Whatever you must do, do it quickly, do it well, and do it now.

In paying  tribute to his Icon a student ironically  proves There is always room for Improvement!  I  have long thought the the Apple Logo was "perfect"; That is till I came across this tribute by Jonathan Mak for his hero Steve Jobs... Somehow it seems to be the missing link that  rounds off the Logo!

The Irony, Mak was simply expressing his emotional connection and respect; that with Jobs Gone A "piece of Apple was Missing"! Instead he may have crystallized the notion that the Apple has uncharted design options yet and created opportunities for himself in a competitive field he has not yet  officially entered into!

Irony .. Wednesday  was one of those rare days I went off-grid... No laptop, no internet, No Phone...  The World could have ended and I would not have known! I learned that Steve Jobs had died The Old- Fashion Way... from one of the "Local Streets Character"

"  ... You Know" he said" the man that  invented the Ipad died... "  I don't Think It would have had as much impact  had I  read it on  one of the tech threads!

Icon-- few in tech  are recognized beyond it's borders; It says a lot about the power and reach of Steve Jobs the man and of what he has accomplished!

I  realized hat  In some trite way  I have become in my "neighborhoods" the "go to Tech" person!  He had singled me out as someone who would be interested in the news... No one steps to me to mention sports scores; or the latest gossip or even Fashion Tidbits! If I'm approached it's about technology... even from complete strangers..Ok so maybe it the laptop I always carry...

It  was only Today I opened the NYTech mailing list and saw this...

Yesterday, Steve Jobs was a visionary tech leader at the head of a company whose products are available worldwide.

Yesterday, Steve Jobs was on a first-name basis with presidents and kings and rock stars and movie stars.

Yesterday, Steve Jobs was worth approximately eight billion US dollars.

Today, Steve Jobs is dead.

What is the lesson?

Whatever you must do, do it quickly, do it well, and do it now.

Give what you can, while you can. As rich as he was, to the best of my (albeit limited) knowledge, he had no charitable foundation, no plan to disburse his immense wealth while he was still on the planet, or afterwards.

And most of all, the old saying remains true: You can't take it with you.

Rest in peace, Steven Paul Jobs. ... Eddie (NYtech Meetup Board)

Indeed "what is The Lesson" ...

I have a Simple Belief that  everyone has a part and a purpose to contribute to where our planet  heads.. I do not believe that any role is larger or smaller!  It is one of those things that  bothers me about our notion of heroes and icons! The "Valuation" on a life, that we inevitable all "even myself " sometimes make.

I took a look at the video and what resonated was the message of connecting the dots and surrendering to a life-map you often do not control! Doing so is tough and often the people who will laud your contribution in death will be you worst  critic in life... they will not step forth to easy the burden or the journey! They will question, ridicule and make YOU second guess yourself!  Steve Jobs Greatest triumph may be that he stayed on his path!

I have a note in one of my  pages... "You may  be the only person saying something and still be right!", Our Tribute to  Mr. Jobs should be to listen closer to those who speak outside the line of "traditional" belief!

“It was impossible to connect the dots looking forward… You have to Trust In Something; Your Gut  Destiny  Life, Karma  whatever, because believing that the dots will connect  down the  road will give you the  confidence to follow your heart  even when it leads you off the well  worn path and that will make all the difference!”… Steve Jobs1955-2011

Ultimately it boils down to those dots... we each have them  moments in life that  seem to  prepare us and predestine us to roles we often  never  imagined and quite frankly would rather not take on! If I  rever Mr Jobs it is for his willingness to trod his own path! To build and to let  go , to take lessons and turn them into triumphs, to  question and create solutions! He is an Icon Not because he created Apple but because he let go and Apologized when he made a mistake.. It is because he picked up and DID...because he was "Bothered" by the small details and dared he created Jobs tools and opportunities for others...

It is indeed an irony... may live purely to be hailed as Icons and miss Opportunities to be great! He lived for the Opportunity and died a Great Icon!
